Kevin Peter Hall (May 9, 1955 – April 10, 1991) was an American actor best known for his roles portraying monsters, often requiring him to use his exceptional height (7'2½") to his advantage.
Early Life and Career: Hall began his career playing monster roles in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He utilized his height to portray characters like the mutant bear in Prophecy (1979).
Key Roles: He is notably remembered for his roles as the titular character in both Harry and the Hendersons and the Predator in the first two films of the franchise. He also played the alien in Without Warning (1980) and various creatures in television shows.
Predator: Initially, Jean-Claude Van Damme was cast as the Predator, but he was replaced by Hall due to concerns about the alien's size. Hall's height made the Predator a more imposing figure.
Harry and the Hendersons: His role as Harry showcased his ability to bring warmth and humor to a large, non-human character, endearing him to audiences.
Personal Life and Death: Hall contracted HIV through a blood transfusion during treatment for an injury sustained during the filming of Harry and the Hendersons. He died in 1991 from pneumonia related to his AIDS. He was married to actress Alaina Reed-Hall, who also passed away due to cancer in 2009.
